Which probably explains why I still can\u2019t tell the difference between a fjord and a fault line. Because when he\/she walked into the classroom\u2026 the rest of the world went blurry. Literally. I took off my glasses and thought: \u201cThere it is. That\u2019s what love feels like.\u201d We exchanged intense stares during tests, which did absolutely nothing for my grades.<\/p><p>Then one day \u2014 a miracle: he\/she asked if they could borrow my eraser. Teen translation: \u201cI love you, let\u2019s get married and adopt a hamster.\u201d<\/p><p>After that, we were \u201ctogether.\u201d Which, in teenage language, means: Sending texts full of \u2764\ufe0f, \ud83d\ude33, and \u201ctkt bb\u201d Holding hands in public like we had just invented romance<\/p><p>Kissing with more enthusiasm than technique<\/p><p>Pretending to like the same movies (\u201cYeah, I love Fast &amp; Furious\u201d \u2014 even though I get dizzy just climbing on a stool) The first \u201cI love you\u201d? A <strong>Shakespearean tragedy:<\/strong> \u2014 \u201cI love you.\u201d \u2014 \u201cAh\u2026 me too\u2026 I think\u2026 I mean, I guess\u2026 well, I\u2019m not sure, but in a good way!\u201d<\/p><p>But sadly, like every great drama, there comes a breaking point. For us, it was when he\/she changed their profile picture\u2026 without telling me. <strong>Digital betrayal.<\/strong> Broken heart. Sad playlist.<\/p><p>MSN username changed to \u201c\ud83d\udc94 broken 4ever \ud83d\udc94.\u201d (Yes, I lived through that era. Don\u2019t judge me.)<\/p><p>\ud83d\udca1 Moral of the story: First loves <strong>don\u2019t always last<\/strong> \u2014 but they always leave a mark. Because it\u2019s the first time your heart races for someone, the first time you write terrible poems, the first time you believe in forever\u2026 even if it only lasts two weeks.
