First Love: A Beautiful Adventure (Or how I thought that “watching Twilight together” was a lifelong commitment)

I met my first love in history-geography class. Which probably explains why I still can’t tell the difference between a fjord and a fault line. Because when he/she walked into the classroom… the rest of the world went blurry. Literally. I took off my glasses and thought: “There it is. That’s what love feels like.” We exchanged intense stares during tests, which did absolutely nothing for my grades.

Then one day — a miracle: he/she asked if they could borrow my eraser. Teen translation: “I love you, let’s get married and adopt a hamster.”

After that, we were “together.” Which, in teenage language, means: Sending texts full of ❤️, 😳, and “tkt bb” Holding hands in public like we had just invented romance

Kissing with more enthusiasm than technique

Pretending to like the same movies (“Yeah, I love Fast & Furious” — even though I get dizzy just climbing on a stool) The first “I love you”? A Shakespearean tragedy: — “I love you.” — “Ah… me too… I think… I mean, I guess… well, I’m not sure, but in a good way!”

But sadly, like every great drama, there comes a breaking point. For us, it was when he/she changed their profile picture… without telling me. Digital betrayal. Broken heart. Sad playlist.

MSN username changed to “💔 broken 4ever 💔.” (Yes, I lived through that era. Don’t judge me.)

💡 Moral of the story: First loves don’t always last — but they always leave a mark. Because it’s the first time your heart races for someone, the first time you write terrible poems, the first time you believe in forever… even if it only lasts two weeks. And honestly, that’s what makes it beautiful: you always remember it — with a bit of laughter, a bit of embarrassment, and a whole lot of nostalgia.
